See the Showa era puppet theater! Time-slip photo exhibition
As the first in the Awaji Ningyo Joruri Museum's 35th anniversary celebrations, we will be showcasing "nostalgic photos of puppet theater" taken in the mid-Showa period.
Based on the theme of time travel, the exhibition room has been remodeled with an entrance in the style of a Nogakegoya (a theater hut at the time). Actual props, katagi (shoulder garments), suitcases, and other items used in the performance will be on display.
Anyone can enjoy the exhibits, which come with explanations that clearly explain how Awaji Ningyo Joruri took root and was enjoyed on Awaji Island.
