Former Ekishukan Garden

During the Edo period, the site was used as a stone quarry in the castle town, and later became a villa garden for the Inada family, chief retainers of the Tokushima domain. At the end of the Edo period, the Inada family's educational institution, "Yasushikan," moved to this site, and the site was subsequently called Yasushikan. The building was burned down in the Kogo Incident in 1870, but the garden retains its original appearance. Samurai gardens using huge stones are rare, and the site has been designated a national place of scenic beauty.
