Purpose of the event

  • The year 2025 marks the 25th anniversary of the Japan Flora 2000 (Awaji Flower Expo), an international horticultural and landscape gardening expo which was held with the aim of pursuing desirable forms of "communication between people and nature" through loving and nurturing the flowers and greenery that surrounds us, and contributing to the conservation and creation of the global environment.
  • A quarter of a century has passed since the Awaji Flower Expo was held, and while global environmental issues such as intensifying disasters caused by climate change have become apparent, the environment surrounding Awaji Island is also changing, with growing global interest in the SDGs and the influx of companies and human resources to Awaji in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Furthermore, the Osaka-Kansai Expo will be held in 2025 with the theme of "Designing a Future Society for Life," and it will also mark the 30th anniversary of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. This will be a great opportunity for many visitors from Japan and abroad to learn about the charms of Awaji, and the Awaji Flower Festival 2025 will be positioned as a pre-event to foster momentum throughout the region.
  • Based on these, the sustainable coexistence of humans and nature that has been cultivated and accumulated thus far will be passed on and developed as a legacy to the next generation, mainly the young people and Generation Z who will lead the future, and the Expo will be used as an opportunity to effectively disseminate this knowledge both domestically and internationally. By "coming, seeing, and experiencing," the event will be an opportunity to learn about the sustainable coexistence of humans and nature, not just to "see and enjoy," but by incorporating experiential events that allow visitors to "feel the goodness firsthand."
