1 Art Yama Oishi Kakuya Museum

The Art Mountain Kakuya Oishi Museum of Art, connected by promenades to Awaji Yumebutai, the Grand Nikko Hotel, and the International Conference Center, is a soothing space where nature and art come together in harmony, surrounded by the magnificent sea view that spreads out before you and the trees where birds sing. The Main Gallery, which features a large table that is 2,000 years old, displays Kakuya Oishi's powerful, large oil paintings, as well as his beloved accessories, while the East Gallery, which has a mysterious tranquility like the bottom of the sea, displays Oishi Shoko's oil paintings and works using shells and sea glass. Awajishima's largest hot spring facility, packed with food, relaxation and experiences. The highlight is Awajishima's largest infinity hot spring, where you can enter wearing a swimsuit and enjoy a panoramic view of Osaka Bay. Even if you don't bring a swimsuit, bathing suits are provided so you can enjoy the facility empty-handed. There is also a bakery cafe, restaurant and bicycle rental shop, so you can spend a relaxing time (pets are allowed on the terrace seats). All stores face the sea, so no matter which store you visit, all seats are special. -

At Awaji Country Garden, you can enjoy the "Earth Burger" made with Awaji beef patties, brown rice buns, and original sauce, as well as the "Milk Soft Serve" made in-house with Awaji Island milk and sugar beet sugar. Dogs are welcome on the 80-seat wooden deck terrace. You can also pick strawberries and buy them directly from the owner. 7 Hyogo Prefectural Awaji Landscape Horticulture School "Alpha Garden"

A learning garden where you can experience the diversity of plants. It consists of the Flower Garden, the Four Seasons Garden, the Horticultural Therapy Garden, and the Wind Garden. Volunteer guides called "Alpha Mates" are on standby at the garden on weekends and holidays from 10:30-16:00. 8 Hyogo Prefectural Awaji Sano Sports Park
Awaji City
Built in Sanoniijima, Awaji City, this is the first fully-fledged sports park in the prefecture, covering an area of approximately 29.5 hectares. It has a baseball field equipped with night-game facilities, a soccer field with natural and artificial turf, a multi-purpose ground that can be used for various sports, and an indoor practice field equipped with a pitching practice area and training rooms. -

10 Hyogo Prefectural Awajishima Park

Awajishima Park is located just off the Awaji Interchange on the expressway, and is a very large park surrounded by rich nature. The whole family can enjoy it to the fullest, with an observation plaza offering a panoramic view of the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge from Osaka Bay, a forest zone where you can relax in the forest, a water play area that is popular with children, and an exchange zone with a large lawn plaza. The park also houses "Nijigen no Mori," an anime-themed activity experience facility run by private sector. -

15 Hyogo Prefectural Park Awaji Flower Gallery

Awaji Hanasajiki was established by Hyogo Prefecture in April 1998 as a flower viewing spot befitting Awaji Island, the island of flowers. The seasonal flower fields gently spread out from a plateau 300 meters above sea level toward the sea (approximately 15 hectares in area). It was named Awaji Hanasajiki as the best viewing seating, from which you can enjoy the flower carpet below with the Akashi Strait and Osaka Bay in the background. 16 Awaji Flower Garden

Come and play with flowers in the seasonal nature at the top of a mountain that has been selected as one of the 100 most scenic spots on Awaji Island. After the rainy season is over, 4,000 hydrangeas of about 80 varieties will bloom in the mountain valley where you can hear the birds singing. In the garden, you can dig for bamboo shoots, pick wild vegetables, gather chestnuts, and also make wreaths, make herbal soap, and write picture letters. -

18 Izanagi Shrine
Awaji City
The founding of Izanagi Shrine is recorded at the beginning of the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki, and is said to be the former site of a sacred residence where, in the Age of the Gods, Izanagi-no-Okami entrusted the authority of national governance to his son Amaterasu Omikami and spent the rest of his life in a "secluded palace" in Taga, Awaji. Izanagi-no-Okami, who passed away here, was enshrined in a sacred tomb built on the grounds of his palace. This is the oldest shrine that dates back to its founding. -

22 Kuni-Umi Kagura Museum

This facility is located in the center of Gunge Shopping Arcade on the west coast of Awaji Island, and is close to Izanagi Shrine, which enshrines the husband and wife deities "Izanagi and Izanami" from the creation myth, and is visited by 1.8 million tourists a year. To commemorate the 1300th anniversary of the compilation of the Kojiki, "Kuniumi Kagura" was created, and a monument related to the creation myth was constructed along the prefectural road from Izanagi Shrine, named "God's Bonding Street," to the shopping arcade, and the facility was opened as an information dissemination facility to pass on these myths to future generations. -

26 Gotonagakakiuchi ruins utilization center facility

The Gotonagakakiuchi ruins, a village where ironware was produced in the late Yayoi period, has been designated a national historic site. Of the 23 pit dwellings discovered, 12 were found to be blacksmith workshops. During the Yayoi period, when iron was important, there are very few ruins in the country where ironware production continued in the same place for over 100 years, making this a valuable ruin that shows the state of society as it transitioned into the Iron Age. -
27 Sano Small Terrace

Utilizing the building of the former Sano Elementary School, there is a cafe overlooking a garden of flowers and greenery, and a direct sales area with agricultural and marine products and souvenirs. Shirasu is processed in a factory that can be seen, and you can enjoy freshly baked bread at the Shirasu Bakery, which opened in April this year. The gymnasium, second and third floors are available for rental as venues for various events. Cooking classes are held in the kitchen, and live performances are held in the music room. -
28 Shizunosato Park

This park is associated with Shizuka Gozen, who is known for her tragic love affair with Minamoto no Yoshitsune. Within the park, you will find Shizuka Gozen's mausoleum and a pond with swimming carp. The park also became famous nationwide for displaying a "100 million yen gold bar" with the help of the Hometown Creation Fund. Currently, a replica of the gold bar is on display. In spring, the cherry blossoms in the park bloom beautifully, symbolizing Shizuka Gozen, who was famous for her beauty. -

37 Tozanji Temple

Higashiyama-ji Temple is an ancient temple with a long history, founded by Kobo Daishi in 819. The main hall and mountain gate were built during the Muromachi period, and the mountain gate is the oldest wooden structure on Awaji Island. The temple enshrines the Thousand-Armed Kannon Bodhisattva as the principal image, and the Yakushi Nyorai and Twelve Heavenly Generals, both former national treasures (now Important Cultural Properties), as secondary images. The temple grounds are filled with seasonal flowers such as cherry blossoms, wisteria, and autumn leaves, and it is designated as the 19th temple on the Awaji Flower Pilgrimage. -

This is a rare museum that specializes in cats, displaying all the artworks of master artist Minoru Nakahama (a native of Awaji City), a leading figure in cat sumi-e (ink paintings). 41 Virgin Valley Awaji Olive Farm

We have regenerated abandoned farmland that has turned into forest into an olive grove. Although we faced many difficulties, we are now able to process olive oil, and in 2023 we won the highest Platinum Award at the International Olive Oil Competition in London and Canada, and in 2024 we won the highest Gold Award in New York. We are creating a glamping site adjacent to the olive grove that produces the world's best olive oil, and are creating a farm that can be enjoyed as a tourist farm. -

47 Village of blowing

"Fukimodoshi" is an old-fashioned toy flute, also known as a "Piro-piro" or "Pee-hara" flute. Fukimodoshi-no-Sato is the only facility in the world where you can enjoy the "Fukimodoshi experience," including the experience of making "Fukimodoshi" and touring the factory. The admission fee includes the experience of making six fukimodoshi, so the fukimodoshi you make are also recommended as a souvenir from your trip to Awaji Island. -
48 Hokuto Earthquake Memorial Park Nojima Fault Preservation Museum

49 Honpukuji Temple Water Hall

This temple of the Omuro school of Shingon Buddhism is said to have been founded in the late Heian period, and the grounds offer a panoramic view of Osaka Bay. The main hall, Mizumido, was built in 1991 to a design by architect Tadao Yasuzo, and is accessed by descending the stairs in the center of an oval lotus pond. In the evenings, the setting sun shines into the pond, creating a fantastic atmosphere. In summer, colorful water lilies bloom all over the pond, and in July, Oga lotus flowers bloom in large blossoms. -

Located at the northernmost tip of Awaji Island, the biggest attraction is its spectacular location, with the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, the world's longest suspension bridge, right in front of you. There is also a wide selection of local delicacies, including the famous raw whitebait bowl, Awaji beef sukiyaki rice bowl, conger eel rice bowl, and Awaji beef burger. The souvenir shop has a wide selection of items that can only be purchased here, such as Awaji Island onions, agricultural products that producers are proud of, and tsukudani made in-house. It is recommended as a stop-off point for family leisure activities or driving dates. -

This park, with plum trees as its main tree, was created to preserve the memory of the disaster caused by Typhoon 23, which struck Sumoto City in 2004. Farmers in the Ono area who support Sumoto City's resource recycling eco-project grow rapeseed flowers to extract oil. The seeds are turned into rapeseed oil, the pressed pomace is used as fertilizer, and the used oil is reused as BDF fuel, making this an environmentally and scenic initiative. Every year, the "Rape Flower Festival" and "Rape Flower Maze" are held, and the cheers of children echo through the air. In autumn, three very rare Trumpet Butterflies at the site of Takadaya Kahei's residence turn golden yellow. Trumpet Butterflies have leaves that are rolled up into a trumpet shape, making up 2% of the total. They are very rare, with only about 30 confirmed in the entire country. ~Takadaya Kahei and the novel "Rapeseed Flowers Offshore"~ A merchant from the late Edo period. He started out as a sailor, established a shipping business, and played an active role in the development of Ezo and in private diplomacy between Japan and Russia. His turbulent life is chronicled in the novel "Rapeseed Flowers Offshore" by Ryotaro Shiba. -

It is located at the southern end of National Route 28, which runs north and south across Awaji Island. It also has a shop selling agricultural and marine products and processed goods, restaurants, a tourist information center, and a popular footbath facility, and is visited by many tourists throughout the year. -

Numashima Terminal Center is the departure and arrival point for boats connecting Awaji Island and Numashima. Numashima Kisen operates two boats, "Shimakaze" and "Shimamachidori" (capacity 84 and 82 passengers respectively). Yuzuruha Shrine is a shrine located near the summit of Mt. Yuzuruha, the highest peak on Awaji Island. It is said that the name of the mountain comes from the fact that over 2,000 years ago, the two gods Izanagi and Izanami descended to the top of the mountain on the wings of a crane, and this is where the shrine began. It has been praised as a sacred place for Shugendo and the original shrine of the Kumano Sanzan. The Somei-Yoshino cherry trees are planted along the road for about 2 km around the dam lake, and the scene of the green of the mountains and the pink of the flowers reflected brilliantly on the lake surface is an inspiring sight for walkers and cherry blossom viewers. *Please cooperate by following the one-way traffic (clockwise) on the outer road of Yuzuruha Dam to avoid congestion. -
